Mrs. Bertha Mae Lester Simmons

Mrs. Bertha Simmons, wife of the late Sampson Simmons, was born in Marion County, South Carolina on December 13, 1933. She departed this life on August 28, 2020 at her residence in Bennettsville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson Simmons, Sr.; David Simmons, Sampson Simmons, Charlie Simmons and two children who died at birth.

Left to cherish her memory are: her daughter Betty Cobb; her son Chuck (Christine) Simmons all of Bennettsville, SC; grandsons: Sampson Cobb, and Samuel Brown; granddaughter Shawn Simmons, sons: John (Bernice) Simmons, and James Lester; numerous grandchildren; one special daughter-in-law Verna Simmons, a daughter-in-law Brenda Simmons; one special sister Diane Pate; sister Maxine Quick of Laurinburg, NC; brothers: Marvin Lester, and Charles Lester both of Laurinburg, NC, John Mack and Charles Pate both of Bennettsville, SC; one step daughter Regina Ross of Bennettsville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 6th, 3:00 pm at New Pee Dee Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 38S, Bennettsville.

Mrs. Carolyn Deloris Bethea David, daughter of the late Belton and Fannie Mae Bethea was born on June 1, 1948 in Durham, North Carolina. On Friday, August 28, 2020, God once again entered the earthly realm to redeem one of His own, our dearly beloved Carolyn D. David departed this life.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her sons: Jimmy David and Alexander David; her parents, four brothers: Robert “BoPete” Bethea, Kenny “Fatman” Bethea, Mike Bennett Bethea, and Eugene Bethea.

Carolyn’s life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Madison “Rickey” David of Lexington, NC, Willie James “Tracy” David (Deborah) of Selma, NC, Gloria Huggins (Aaron) of Clio, SC, Angela David and Marcus “Bo” David of Bennettsville, SC; grandchildren: Marquitah Davis, Valarie Farmer, Madison Jarod Davis, Tony Tyquan English, Erica Dease, Carolyn S. David, Ronald McBride, Tashala McBride, Terrence McBride, William David, Jashearee Pate, Zakayia Tel, Trenady David, Marcus “BJ” David, Elijah David, Tanya David and DeMarcus David; great grandchildren: Anthony English, Tyron English, Tyshawn English, Anzaria English, Cure Clark Da’Shean Clark, Arele Clark, James Quick, Jr., Razeek David, Jamie David, Devarion McBride, Traydeon McBride, Amarii McBride, Xavier McBride, Malik Isaiah David, Tanell and Malik David; sisters: Mary McKinnon of Greensboro, NC, Flora Calderon of Elmira, NY and Christina (Waldo) Pearson of Bennettsville, SC; brothers: Henry Bethea (Lillian) of Lawrenceville, VA, Jimmy Ray Bethea (Linda) of Charlotte, NC, Nelson Bethea of Bronx, NY, and James Wayne Bethea of Parkton, NC; sister-in-law Deloris D. Bethea of Bennettsville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, and a very special daughter, Jasmine Poe. Also, Doris P. Leggett, other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 5th, 11:00 am at Word of Life Memorial Garden, Bennettsville, South Carolina.
