Odessa Townsend Jones

Odessa Townsend Jones, daughter of the late Freddie Townsend and Evelean Pearson was born on September 15, 1949, in Marlboro County, South Carolina. She answered her call to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Morris Manor Hospice, Laurinburg, North Carolina.
Odessa attend Eastside High School in Bennettsville, South Carolina and later graduated from Lighthouse Christian College. She was employed at United Technology for twenty-six years and retired from Sopakco after sixteen years.
Odessa accepted Christ at the age of nineteen and joined St. Luke Fire Baptized Holiness Church (later renamed Word of Life Christian Center). She was called to preach the Word of God in 1983 and served on several auxiliaries. Reverend Odessa Townsend Jones was a dedicated and faithful Woman of God.
She was united in Holy Matrimony April 27, 1967. This union was blessed with seven children.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband of fifty-four years, Fred Jones of the home; her mother Evelean Townsend, Bennettsville, SC; four daughters: Lettie Ann (Larry) Robinson of Florence, SC, Janice (Tim) Bethea of Bennettsville, SC, Stephanie (Roger) Moore of Indian Trail, NC, and Kizzy (Brent) Ervin of Summerville, SC; three sons: Frederick (Sylvia) Jones of Charlotte, NC, Sterling Jones of Bennettsville, SC, and Alex (Jana) Jones of Raleigh, NC; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, six sisters: Flora Mae (Jimmy) Campbell, Syvilla (James) Harrington, and Betty Townsend all of Bennettsville, SC, Pearlee Townsend of Brooklyn, NY, Mattie Simmons of Georgetown, SC, and Faye (Rodney) Perry of Charlotte, NC; three brothers: Freddie (Pam) Townsend of Melbourne, FL and Eddie Townsend of Fayetteville, NC; one sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Redmond of Denver, CO; two brothers-in-law: Curby Jr. (Mae) Jones, and Leo (Irene) Jones both of Bennettsville, SC; a spiritual mother, Overseer Dr. Iva D. Hodge; four special friends: Emma Nell Bethea, Elizabeth Murray, Eula Prince and Mary Dease; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her father, Odessa Townsend Jones was preceded in death by a brother, John Townsend, and two sisters: Retha Mae Townsend and Carrie Ridges.
