Apostle Ervin Dease, Sr. was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina on November 18, 1946. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Beatrice Dease. Preceding him in death are three brothers: Charles, George, and Johnny Henry Dease and one sister, Elizabeth Galloway.
Apostle Dease attended Eastside High School in Bennettsville, South Carolina, after graduating he was enlisted into the United States Army, where he served for three years. He later was employed with Marley, Marnet Packing Co. (Sopakco) Bennettsville, South Carolina, and Clarkman (Gaylord) Society Hill, South Carolina. He also, attended Chesterfield Technical College in Cheraw, South Carolina. Upon returning from service, he met and married the late Patricia Gordon and to this union three sons were born.
Apostle's family, church life, and church family were all extremely important to him. His passion and love for God and His word, gave him a determination to live life like every day was the last day. He not only taught God's Word but he was a living example that the Word of God is true.
Apostle Dease leaves to cherish his legacy and loving memories: his loving and devoted wife, Mary M. Dease (Hon) of the home; four sons: Ervin Dease, Jr., of the home; Pastor Derrick (Yolanda) Dease of Hartsville, SC; Brian (Denetra) Dease of Bennettsville, SC and Bryant (Lacy) Drake of Raleigh, NC; One sister, Sister Virginia Dease of Bennettsville, SC and one brother, William (Robin) Dease of Columbia, SC; two brothers-in-law, Jeremiah Drake and friend (Cynthia) of Laurinburg, NC and Deacon Charles Drake of Raleigh, NC; one sister-in-law, Sister Mary E. Dease of Bennettsville, SC; seven grandchildren, Isaac, Kiara (daughter), Brian (bdeasy), Ionika, Derrian and Zierre Dease and Charlotte Drake and one great grandson, Major Henderson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. As well as a host of spiritual sons and daughters.
Homegoing Memorial Services for Apostle Ervin Dease will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, at Solid Rock Holiness Church, 1004 Hamlet Highway in Bennettsville. Graveside Committal Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 12, at Word of Life Memorial Garden, Beauty Spot Road, Bennettsville.
