Sister Eleanor Vermelle Brown was born to the late Andrew J. and Elise Brown on July 2, 1932, in Bennettsville, South Carolina.Sister Brown became one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 10, 1971, in Bennettsville, South Carolina where she faithfully served Jehovah. Sister Brown also extended herself in her ministry preaching and teaching to others about the good news of God's Kingdom. Sister Brown remained faithful and active in her service to Jehovah until her death on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the age of 88.Eleanor Brown attended Bennettsville schools. She furthered her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), passing the national board of nursing and graduating with honors. She served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Marlboro General and Marlboro Park hospitals for over 30 years gaining the respect of doctors, nurses, hospital staff and the community. Sister Brown worked across various departments including Intensive Care, Labor and Delivery and Emergency Room units until her retirement. After retirement she continued to provide home health nursing services. She was a strong pillar of support for her family and friends promoting good values, education and selflessness. Sister Brown gave to everyone unconditionally and was affectionately called "Mama" by her grandchildren and "Vip" by her family and friends. She was our VIP!Three brothers preceded her in death: Mack Henry Brown, Franklin D. Brown and Alexander Smith.She leaves to cherish her memory four children: Joseph Brown (Pam) of Bennettsville, SC; Elease Brown of Stone Mountain, GA; Ronald Brown of the home and Jennifer Liles (Johnny) of Bennettsville, SC; four grandchildren: Jalaya Liles Dunn (Clinton) of Arlington, VA; Karina Liles of Columbia, SC; John "Jaye" Liles and Kaylan Liles of Bennettsville, SC; three great grandchildren: Jaylon Liles, Jayden Liles and Bella Elise Dunn; three siblings: Queen Ella Nelson of Brooklyn, NY; Andrew "June" Brown, Jr (Evergreen) and Katherine Pegues of Bennettsville, SC; one sister-in-law: Helen Smith of Fairburn, GA; grandniece Latecqucia Brown and a grandnephew Daquan Brown who she raised; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 30th, 2:00 p.m. at the Bennettsville Community Center with interment at Dyers Hill Memorial Park, Bennettsville, South Carolina.
