James Bethea, Jr. (Cup) was born on February 17, 1944 to the late James Bethea, Sr. and Evangelist Bertha Bethea in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on November 6, 2020.He attended the public schools of Marlboro County and was employed for twenty-three years with Marlboro Electric Cooperative in Bennettsville, South Carolina.James Bethea, Jr. was a member of Old Galilee United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, South Carolina until the church closed.He is preceded in death by his father and mother, James Bethea, Sr. and Evangelist Bertha Bethea; two sisters: Minister Pearline Burns and Mary Bethea.Left to cherish loving memories are: his daughter, Tonette (Pastor David M.) Ledbetter of High Point, NC; two grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Bethea of Bennettsville, SC; two sisters: Martha Moore of Bennettsville, SC and Minister Shirley Davis of Kernersville, NC; two brothers-in-law: Reverend Willie Davis and Robert Moore; one aunt, Evelean Townsend; a special great nephew, Lakeem Ridges; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Also, a special family of forty years, Ella S. Molden, children, and grandchildren.Graveside services were held on Friday, November 13, 1 pm at Ideal Cemetery, Bennettsville.
