Mr. James Arthur Dupree, affectionally called "Arthur" son of the late Leon and Susie Dupree, was born on September 1, 1934 in Bennettsville South Carolina. He attended public school in Marlboro County. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Fall Missionary Baptist Church. After he was united in marriage to the late Viola Peterkin in 1958, he moved to Brooklyn, New York. From this union they were blessed with three children: Viretta, Marcella, and Darrin. Arthur believed in working hard and taking care of his family. He was employed at Jamaica Spring, Inc, over 40 years and always focused on completing the required tasks before him. Arthur loved people and loved helping people anyway he could. As he would travel home to South Carolina, Arthur would load up his van to transport other family members and friend on road trip to visit family in the Carolinas. During his time in Brooklyn, New York, Arthur continued to show love when God allowed them to care for so many foster children. He was proud to add two additional children to his family, Qualiek "Roger" and Kyle.Later in life he returned home to Marlboro County and served as an active member of the Cedar Fall Missionary Baptist Church. As you would see him in the men's corner with his brothers you would see the comical side of Arthur, who believed in laughter and he would laugh out loud.He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Peterkin Dupree; his parents Leon and Susie Dupree; one sister, Christine Dupree Edwards; three brothers: Willie Dupree, Leon Dupree, Jr and Bobby Dupree. On May 29, 2021, Arthur transitioned in his home surrounded by his loving family.
