Obituary
Polly Ann McLaurin Oliver, the daughter of Katie Mae McLaurin and James Thomas McLaurin, was born on October 19, 1951, in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She departed this life on October 4, 2021, at her home. Polly attended the public schools of Scotland County, graduating in 1968 before Charles, her soulmate in 1970. They were blessed to become gainfully employed, living in various states while creating lasting friendships along the way. The couple was able to operate the first Moe’s Chic’n in Bennettsville and Laurinburg in 1984 and it existed until Spring 2015. Polly was gifted with the ability to create beautiful articles of clothing, create tablespaces, and coordinating immaculate colors and designs. She enjoyed the opportunity to use these talents in the service of her church. She was a chartered member of the Community of Grace and a member of the hospitality committee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie Mae McLaurin and James Thomas McLaurin, and the love of her life, Charles Oliver.
Left to cherish fond memories are: her three children, James (Lisa), Michelle, and Erik; grandchildren, Brittney, Malik, Tevin, JaTavius, Tyler, Jalei, Jaden, Essence, and Skylar (Blondie); great-grands, Kamdyn and Kalise; sisters, Margret Bethea, Pastor Helen Bridges, and Jackie McNeil (Elijah); aunts, Pastor Virginia Lane and Flossie Breeden; uncle, Willie McLaurin; brothers-in-law, Timothy Oliver (Lula); sisters-in-law, Beverly McKiver (Ronnie), Loretta Brown, Geraldine Oliver, and Alice Y. We will be remiss if we do not share with you how much unconditional love existed in the heart of our dear Polly. We will forever be grateful to have shared this life with her.
