Mrs. Sallie Thomas Obituary

Mrs. Sallie M. Purvis Thomas, daughter of the late Mr. William McKinley Purvis and Mrs. Alma Bridges Purvis was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on March 6, 1929. She departed this life on May 28, 2021 at Chesterfield Rehabilitation Center, Cheraw, South Carolina.
She attended public school in Lester. Mother Thomas was a domestic employee for a number of years, working with many families. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In later years, she joined Greater St. James Baptist Church. She was married to Freeman Allen and later to George L. Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers.
Those left to cherish fond memories includes her loving and devoted son, Lindsay (Constance) Purvis of Bennettsville, SC; grandchildren: Layton Purvis of Knoxville, TN, Lindsay (Davaise) Townsend of Charlotte, NC, Betty Ann Staton of Atlanta, GA, and Teresa McKinnon of Bennettsville, SC; seven great grandchildren, eight great, greatchildren; two special nieces: Arleatha (Tommy) Reese, and Sean Reese; one special nephew Bobbie Purvis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and extended family members: Deacon Fred J.G. (De'Elizabeth) Thomas, Alfreida (Robert) Stroman, and Sharon Thomas.
