Thomas H. Peterkin, the third of nine children born to the late Neal and Ellen O. (Thomas) Peterkin, was born on December 2, 1937 in Bennettsville, South Carolina. After being in declining health for three months, he departed this life on March 29, 2021 in Brooklyn, New York.He received his education in the Marlboro County School System in Bennettsville. Thomas was affectionately called "Mimmie." He confessed the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Church in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He moved to Brooklyn New York and worked as a Custodian and Painter for St. Mary's Hospital for thirty-seven years.Thomas (Mimmie) was preceded in death by his two older siblings, Neal Peterkin, Jr. and Gwendolyn T. Jones.Those remembering his fruitful life are: three sisters, Mary C. Bostic of Wyandanch, NY, Evelyn O. Williams of Bennettsville, SC and Cathelyn P. (James) Quick of McColl, SC; three brothers, Johnny L. Peterkin (Ella) of Willingboro, NJ, Donaldson R. Peterkin (Virginia) of Columbia, SC and Ronald B. Peterkin of Bennettsville, SC; a dear friend Pamela Quinn of Brooklyn, NY and her sister Tishana (Mookie) Knight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
